Hello sir, I'm a DASA student applying to IIITH for the 2025-26 batch. My current curriculum is the NSW HSC from Australia, which includes Mathematics and Physics but not Chemistry. IIITH requires Maths, Physics, and Chemistry for DASA eligibility, and I need to figure out how to add Chemistry.I've been looking into taking Chemistry through NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling), but I'm concerned because IIITH's brochure specifies that the subjects must be completed "outside India," and NIOS is an Indian board. I've emailed IIITH for clarification, but I'm still waiting for a response. Is NIOS accepted for DASA?

Hey I scored about 97.62%tile and a rank of 36091 in jee main 2025. Initially I planned of considering mechanical engineering at IIITDM Kancheepuram. But now due to the availability of options I am also starting to consider ECE at IIIT Kottayam and IIIT Sri city. From previous year cutoffs' I am also getting branches like Civil and Biotech at top NIT's. At this point I am really confused on what to take and what not to. Initially i planned of doing my bachelors in mechanical and then masters in aerospace engineering. But that's a long way down. I do understand that in terms of placements Mechanical is not much preferred. But on the other hand ECE is a fast growing industry and I am sure placements would be nice if i consider it. I have discussed this with my parents and other people and they all have given me a free hand on the choice. Thus the real dilemma is whether to take Mechanical engineering and do masters, take ECE and consider placements or consider top NIT's over these? I would also like to mention that I am not really focusing on other upcoming exams thus these being my options.

Ans: If you're deeply passionate about Aerospace or Mechanical systems, and ready for a committed path toward higher studies, then Mechanical at IIITDM Kancheepuram is a justifiable and fulfilling choice.

If you're inclined toward industry-readiness and future flexibility, ECE at IIIT Sri City is safer and more versatile.

Ans: Yes, you can appear for Class 12 again from another board. There is no restriction on that.
You are allowed to appear for JEE Main only in the year you pass Class 12 and in the next two consecutive years (i.e., maximum 3 attempts).
Your 10th marksheet from Bihar board and 12th from another state board is acceptable.

The gap between 10th and 12th does not matter for JEE, as long as your name, date of birth, and other details match in both documents.

Sir my son gave jee mains in 2024 alng with his 12th boards but wasnt eligible for jee adv. 2024. He gave jee mains 2025 and got eligible for hee adv. 2025. So this will be considered his 1st attempt or 2nd attempt for jee adv.

Ans: JEE Advanced Eligibility Rules state that a candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years.

Since your son was not eligible for JEE Advanced 2024 (despite appearing for JEE Main 2024), 2025 will be counted as his first attempt for JEE Advanced.

If he appears again in JEE Advanced 2026, that will be his second and final attempt.
